本作是日本机器人动作代表作，《装甲核心》系列登陆次世代主机的第二部作品，游戏继承前作的机体、零件与徽章等数据，并收录新机体与加倍的零件数。加入比玩家所驾驶的 AC 机体大上数百倍的敌对超巨大兵器「ARMS FORT」，以及可让 AC 机体以时速 2000 公里超高速移动的「VOB」推进器等新要素，提供崭新的游戏体验。因为前作需要赶时间发售，所以制作方没有充足的时间制作更多的单人任务内容，在本作中制作方承诺将大量加强单机部分的内容，并且本次将允许玩家合作完成任务！按照惯例，在本作中也增加了全新的机体，不过本次出现的是全长超过7公里的巨型兵器！玩家在攻略时可以选择进入其内部进行破坏，或者在外面对其装备进行各个击破。此外，也追加了大量全新的AC和可变形AC。
